In 1992, the LadyBack Field, the first collegiate soccer field in the country, was constructed exclusively used for a women’s team. Prior to the 2011 season, the facility underwent the extension and renovation for an enhancement.

Now, the field has improved even more by acquiring a brand-new field in the summer of 2023.

The field was raised and resodded with Bermudagrass grown at Winstead Farms in Arlington, Tennessee. This farm also grew the grass for the field inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium, according to the Arkansas Razorback website.

“Before they redid the field, it actually sloped about three feet from the Northwest corner to the Southwest corner which is pretty crazy,”  said Fuller Birch, the soccer team’s Communication Liaison. “You could set the ball down in a particular spot and it would just roll.”

Anna Podojil, a graduate student who plays for the Razorbacks, said the renovation took place in between May and August.

“It was very cool to practice on the field for the first time because it was such an exciting project,” Podojil said. “We had to train at the recreation fields all summer, so it was awesome that it was ready in time for preseason.”

The soccer team resumed practicing on the new grass for the first time on August 1, 2023.
