Dating back to the early 1970s, the Razorback mascot team has become one of the most beloved Razorback traditions. Big Red, also known as the “Fighting Razorback,” and fuzzy red friends: Sue E, Pork Chop, Ribby and Boss Hog, easily bring a smile to every Hog fan’s face.

Alongside all Razorback game experiences, these friends are even open to special appearances by request. The mascot team celebrates diverse types of events ranging from RSO events to city-wide. By working through the Northwest Arkansas community, the mascot team can touch Hog fans not only on campus but also all over the region.

Even though Big Red arrived at the University of Arkansas in the early 1970s, the rest of the squad did not join until later. Sue E, famous for her costume changes and dancing abilities, became a member in the early 1990s, when Pork Chop and Boss Hog joined in the late 1990s. Ribby, the Baseball Hog, makes sure to create an entrance at every baseball game, home and away.

Every mascot has a different personality that comes from different experiences. Big Red remains the main face while he can be a bit “wild” since he represents the “intimidating fighting spirit” of the Razorbacks. Sue E loves her series of costume changes and her dancing skills. Boss Hog, named from the “Dukes of Hazard” movie, is a 9-foot-tall inflatable Hog, known for being plain humorous.

While each mascot serves a different role, the one thing they have in common is the Razorback fan base. Every Razorback fan is aware of the role of the mascots and can celebrate no matter the outcome of a sporting event.
